It's been a couple of days since the nightmare that is April 15th. After a plethora of phone calls (most of them vitriolic) and emails I was finally able to file my taxes on time. And, thankfully my extensions and checks were completed in time for me to run them to my local post office, thereby avoiding the dreaded midnight drive to some distant postal facility for that elusive 4/15 postmark.
To add to the stress of that day my a/c went on the fritz and I spent Wednesday afternoon waiting for a scheduled repairman, only to receive a phone call rescheduling my appointment for today. But, being at home meant being in my scraproom. And, there's nothing that makes me happier than an excuse to scrap! ... unless it's a hug from one of my granddaughters. Then, to add to the joy of the day I watched David Cook survive another elimination round and continue his journey to becoming our next Idol! WooHoo
Every so often I stumble across a topic on one of the scrapbook message boards about "what is the worst thing you ever purchased for scrapooking' or 'name something you had to have but never use' ... and inevitably the Blade Runner from EK Success and Basic Grey's Notch and Die Tool are at the top of everyone's list. I own them both.
I'm sure that both of these tools were brilliant ideas when they were conceived, but neither of them have translated well through development. I never use the Blade Runner. But, I must admit that I've felt compelled to get out the BG Notch and Die Tool recently and put it to use.
I fell in love the the Prima Rue 88 Collection papers when I first saw them. And, to soothe the savage tax beast in me I pulled them out, along with a few other things that make me happy, and I spent the afternoon scrapping. Now, for those of you who don't know, the Notch and Die Tool has interchangeable 'shaped' blades that magnetically attach to the end of the tool. You then place the tool in the palm of your hand and press downward, forcing the blade through the paper to make a notch. I know you're thinking, why don't you just use a pair of scissors or a craft knife or a hole punch? EXACTLY!! But, maybe it's because when you spend upwards of $35.00 for a tool you feel like you should get some use from it!
So I notched the edges ( hence, the name of this post "Cutting Edge". Clever, huh? ) of the notebook lined paper and put the tool away until next year. Then I inked and outlined the paper and adhered it to the rusty cardstock background. I swiped the edges of the cardstock with the Gold Metallic Paint Dauber that T!m Holtz gave me. Then I added some twinkly, colored rhinestones to the notches. With the base of my page complete I added the photos, flowers, journaling, and embellishments. Ohhhh, I LOVE this hobby!

Ohhhhh, I REALLY want one of these. I'm trying to avoid that little voice inside my head saying ... go buy it ... you deserve it! (I think that's the same little voice that caused me to be the proud owner of the Notch and Die Tool! LOL)
It just tickles me to no end when you guys visit here and leave a comment! I want to give a shout-out to fellow SO teammate Lynnise who is on dial-up and TypePad just won't let her post comments here ... but I know she's out there. Lynnise, you know I love you girl and I only hope to grow up to be as creative and talented as you are! Also, shout out's to teammates Jing-Jing,and Jan, you guys are the ones that make this whole adventure SO fun!! hahahaha
I can't leave out David Cook's Future Ex Wife, across the Pond to Journaling Junkie Teammate Beverley, fellow grandma, Patti, the inspirational Nancy, Greta, and especially my beautiful daughter and my biggest fan, RaKell (who doesn't have her own blog yet.) You guys are sooo supportive and your encouragement and compliments are the goodies in my day. And, thanks to those of you who visit but don't leave a comment. I know you're out there, you tell me so ... and I'm just so happy to have you here. Don't be shy and tell me hello next time! hehehehe

Why isn't that a fun looking video camera thingy?! I'm not sure what it does really but I love the web page with all the photos flipping hither and yon! Fun....and you know I couldn't agree with you more in regards to that Notch and Die tool...only thing I can think of that is Basic Grey that I don't LOVE!!! Most of all I'm glad you have moved on from the dreaded TAX deadline...until next year! Oy, we need a Tea Party bad!!!!!

ok collette u caught me I have been looking at your blog recently. I found u on SO, i have been getting the kits for a year now and have just started checking out the mss board. I love your style and enjoy looking at your work. the pages and cards u did with last months kit were totally amazing.

and shoutin right back at you!!!! I have that blade thing though.. I didnt care for it. I have several of those things that I just dont understand. I think they believe we have sucker on my back instead of scrapper.
